Dr. Josh Wright & Rachmaninoff – Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Op. 18, 1st movement – PART I
This 43-minute video lesson explores an in-depth look at the Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Op. 18, first movement by Sergei Rachmaninoff. Because of the length of this movement, there are two separate videos covering the entirety of this movement. This is PART II for this piece, and covers from the “Maestoso (Alla Marcia)” tempo marking at the climax of the piece to the end of the movement. Areas of focus include relaxation and flexibility, speed, balance between the hands, nuance and melodic shaping and voicing, interpretation, long lines, fingering, and romantic stylistic elements to help you become as efficient as possible in your practice sessions.
