Success is easy. Anything is easy if you know how to do it. The problem with success is that most people are doing it wrong. This isn’t anybody’s fault. It’s certainly not your fault if you’ve been struggling and ain’t got squat to show for it.
No Operators Manual
Humans don’t come with any instructions. We don’t come with much of anything, except a bunch of instincts. We like to eat, and we are programmed to feel hungry when we see or smell food we like. Even if we aren’t hungry. Even if we know intellectually we’ve had enough calories for the day.
We like sex. We like thinking about it and doing it. Even if we’re in a fantastic relationship with a wonderful person, we still get sexually aroused when we see a sexually arousing person.
People who overeat hate themselves in the morning. People who cheat on wonderful, loyal partners feel a billion times worse. It’s like we can’t even control ourselves!
Heart Of Struggle
A long, long time ago, Mother Nature had a choice to make. She looked down on us humans, just starting to figure out we were different from the rest of the animals. She had a choice. She could sit us down, give us a list of things we needed to do, and things we couldn’t do.
Twenty minutes later, after She stopped laughing, she realized we silly humans wouldn’t remember. So she programmed us with instincts. Things like wanting sex and wanting food. So we wouldn’t need to remember to eat. So we would ALWAYS be ready to have sex (and make more people) whenever the opportunity presented itself.
Worked Perfectly
For a while, these human instincts worked fantastic. So fantastic that we started inventing all kinds of cool stuff. We stopped hunting and started farming. We built big cities. We invented technology. Airplanes. Space travel. Microwaves. Fidget spinners.
Enter The Problem
But we still have those ancient instincts. Those instincts that say, “Eat as much as you can whenever food is available!” Those instincts that helped us back then are KILLING us today!
Success Used To Be Natural
Back in the early days of human history, success was a piece of cake. You just followed your gut, and BOOM! You got what you wanted. Our instincts, desires and thinking patterns were fine tuned for the world we used to live in.
Backwards Land
Now everything’s flipped. The things we feel compelled to do are often times the OPPOSITE of what we SHOULD do. If we only pay attention to our gut, this is going to lead us into trouble. (Or a really huge gut…)
The Breakthrough Discovery
But one strange economist had an idea. An idea about why those ancient people stopped hunting food and started growing it. His crazy idea was they changed how they thought about things. Things they could do.
Imagination Explosion
Something happened to those ancient people that allowed them to stop grunting and carrying around clubs, and start talking and invent farming and everything else that came with it. A way they thought about themselves, their environment, and most importantly, their future.
They Pulled The Future Forward
Think about life as a hunter. If you are hungry, you can go out and kill something right now, and eat it. But if you are a farmer? You’ve got to plant stuff, and wait. A long time.
This meant these ancient people, that lived before recorded history, had the ability to see six months out in the future, and actually compare it to something they were doing that day.
Long Range Planning
They invented a new way of thinking. A new way of imagining. A way of thinking of a potential outcome of something they might do that day, to what it may become six months or a year into the future.
What Caused The Breakthrough?
The truth is nobody really knows. Sure, all kinds of scientists have all kinds of ideas, but bottom line is we can only guess. All we know is that in order to change from hunters to farmers, you’ve got to shift your thinking form right now, to six months out, or even further.
Common Problems
If we have our mind calibrated to the wrong time frame, we’ll do the OPPOSITE Of what we need to do. That’s why following your gut, your instincts, your intuition even, will give you the OPPOSITE of what you want if you are thinking in the wrong time frame.
Re Calibrate Your Time Frame
The awesome part is that recalibrating your time frame is EASY. Imagine if you had on a weird pair of glasses. Ones that made a basketball hoop look like it was twenty feet up instead of ten feet up.
Tons Of Effort – Crappy Results
You would be putting in TONS of effort, thinking the hoop was far up, when it was really closer than you thought. Once you took off the glasses, you would need to put in LESS EFFORT to get BETTER RESULTS.
This is EXACTLY what is happening when you are thinking in the wrong time frame. You put in way too much effort to get the wrong results. Once you recalibrate your thinking, you’ll find it takes WAY LESS effort to get WAY BETTER results.
No Will Power Required
Re-calibrating your thinking is just as easy as taking off a goofy pair of glasses. It requires you do stupidly simple things on a daily basis. These stupidly simple things will actually FEEL goofy. You’ll feel silly even doing them.
They Add Up
But these goofy, silly things you do on a daily basis will change the way you think about your actions and your future. Doing this daily “disciplines” will re-calibrate your thinking. You will NEVER need any willpower.
Don’t Tell Anybody!
These daily exercises will take a minute. Maximum. You can do them in total secret. You don’t have to tell anybody you are doing them. In fact, you SHOULDN’T tell anybody you are doing them. They’ll think your crazy!
Your Re-Calibrated Time Brain
Once your brain is re-calibrated (which it will be after doing these silly simple exercises) making the right choices will be EASY. They will be automatic. You won’t even need to think about them.
What you choose to do naturally today doesn’t work so well. But what you choose to do naturally after re-calibrating your brain will AUTOMATICALLY lead to success. You’ll NEVER have to do anything uncomfortable!
Seven Areas
You can choose any one of these to start. Each area’s daily “discipline” will only take a couple of minutes. They are like seeds you’ll be planting in your brain. And these seeds will grow into the behaviors that will naturally lead you to success in each of these areas.
Never Need Willpower
Imagine a hunter who has to struggle. Chasing dangerous animals, many of whom fight back. Now imagine a farmer. Who plants seeds in the ground and waits for Nature to take its course. Most people are like hunters. Putting in all kinds of dangerous effort to get their goals.
Enter The Farmer
But when you plant these powerful seeds in your mind, they will grow into the natural behaviors you need to succeed. These behaviors will never require willpower. Will never cause anxiety. Will always be natural and automatic.
Change What Feels Normal
Most people wrongly believe that go get outstanding results you need to do outstanding things. Take outstanding risks. Go big or go home, right? Wrong! The trick is to slowly change what feels normal, until doing what needs to be done to get what you want IS normal!
The Now Normal You
The now normal you does normal things and gets the results that you are getting. Which I’m guessing is far less than you KNOW you can achieve. But so far, all the work and struggle and risks you’ve taken haven’t given you anything but a bunch of frustration.
The New Normal You
But once you start planting these easy seeds in your mind, they’ll organically grow into new behaviors. These NEW behaviors will still FEEL totally normal. You won’t FEEL any different.
Results Will Be Astounding
But the results you get with those new (but still normal feeling) behaviors will get you MUCH more success. In all areas.
Health
Doing the things you need to do to stay healthy, live longer, and feel wonderful, will be easy and natural. No willpower will ever be required.
Communication
Naturally thinking and speaking articulately and persuasively will be easy. You won’t be thinking half-baked thoughts and spitting out jumbled up words like everybody else. You will be thinking profound ideas and describing them with absolute clarity.
Social Skills
Now you might feel a bit nervous in social situations. But the new you will feel absolutely comfortable talking to strangers and being the life of the party. You will NEVER need to leave your comfort zone.
Risk
Most people are terrified of risk. But the new you, with your new natural behaviors and thinking patterns, will always be able to predict the outcome of uncertain events. You’ll think about doing something, calculate the worst case and best case outcome, and make an easy, rational decision.
Learning
Real learning requires trial and error. Which most people never do because most people are TERRIFIED of the error part. But the new you will WELCOME all feedback. Which means you will be a learning machine, and every step you take, no matter the outcome, will increase your learning and experience. More importantly, it will be enjoyable! (Just watch a baby learn to walk by trial and error – See how fun it’s supposed to be!)
Money
Most folks are terrified of money. But the new you will see it as merely as a tool. Like a hammer and a bunch of nails. And what do hammers and nails do? Whatever you want them to! Most people are controlled by money. But the new you will be a natural controller of money.
Thinking
Most people are terrified of thinking new thoughts. Which means their heads are filled with thoughts of others. The new you, on the other hand, will have original thoughts. Powerful thoughts. Inspiring thoughts. Thoughts that stretch far out into the future and help you choose the absolute best path for you life.
How Is This Possible?
Yes, this sounds like a stretch. But imagine if our poor basketball friend didn’t have on goofy glasses, he had goofy eyesight! He would never believe he could get better results with less effort! Until you came along showed him some simple exercises to change his sight. Taught him to see things the way they really are.
Thought Seeds
These seven disciplines (which are so easy they shouldn’t really be called disciplines) will slowly change how you think. And just as sure as that kid will start shooting better baskets with less effort, you will start living a MUCH better life with MUCH less effort.
